Asal the Ajith starrer to be produced by Sivaji Productions was launched this morning at 9.30 with the traditional pooja at the Late Sivaji's house Annai Illam at Boag Road. This event witnessed the presence of noted luminaries from the film world like super star Rajinikanth, Soundarya Rajini, director K Balachander, Suriya, Karthi, S A Chandrashekar, Avm Saravanan, P.Vasu, Sakthi, Jayam Raja, Editor Mohan, Sathyaraj and Lyricst Vairamuthu.

Most of the male dignitaries were spotted in the traditional Tamil costume of Veshti and shirt. Ajithkumar was as usual smart in his silk shirt and dhoti with the Vettarival Meesai. Prabhu who spoke on the occasion said that it is customary for all Sivaji Production's films to commence with a pooja in Annai Illam and Asal is no exception. He further said, “Though Rajinikanth is a super star, he is a gentle and cultured human being to be with and Ajith is just a replica of him. He is such a fine human being.”

Director Saran hoped that Asal also will be a big hit like Chandramukhi. He also owed his success in the film field to his Guru K Balachander and good friend Ajithkumar. On Asal, he said, “Ajith will be seen in two different getups in the film. There will be two heroines but the names are not yet finalized. This will be music director Bharathwaj's 50th film. Camera will be cranked by Nirav Shah who will be assisted by Prashanth”.

Vairamuthu, lyricist of the film stated, “The trilogy of me, Bharathwaj and Saran has always worked magic and I am confidant that this magic will continue in Asal also”. While speaking about Saran, Kavi Perarasu said that some directors make films for heroes while some others for producers. However Saran is one director who satisfies everyone.

Superstar Rajinikanth said that though his daughter Soundarya generally does not participate in such functions, she agreed to come today because it is a family affair. Films like Paalum Pazhamum and Veerapandiya Kattabomman which were launched from Annai Illam recorded huge success. Likewise Rajinikanth hoped and wished that Asal also continue in the same success track.

When Ultimate star Ajith rose to speak he said, “I have seen many ups and downs in my life and career. These experiences have taught me to follow strict discipline in my personal life. I am happy to feature in Sivaji Production's film.”

The earlier Polladhavan Combo Dhanush and Vetrimaran are joining hands for their next venture named 'Aadukalam'. The director Vetrimaran has done enough ground work in Madurai and is likely to start shooting from February 22 onwards. The movie is based on a true story.

fight' famous in these parts of the region. This is one of the reasons why the director has chosen the name 'Aadukalam'.

Riding high on success, Dhanush has to prove himself once again to the audience. The director though new with only one movie to his credit has gained appreciation for his style of narrating stories.

As stated earlier in these columns, Vetrimaran has opened an office in Madurai especially for this film. This shows the involvement in the project and the audience can expect a treat from the duo once again.

It is stated that the film will be marketed and distributed by Sun Pictures. It is expected that Trisha will act with Dhanush for the first time.

The audio launch of Arya-Trisha starrer Sarvam was held on Valentine's Day at the Inox complex. The event was a colorful affair, especially because of the specialty of the day. The lead cast of the film was present along with director Vishnuvardhan. Music for Sarvam has been scored by Yuvan Shankar Raja who has tuned five songs for the movie. Speaking at the function, Vishnuvardhan said that he chose to have the audio launch on Valentine's day because this was his first film where romance had an important place, Sarvam will be a romantic thriller. He was all praise for Yuvan's five romantic numbers and also of Pa. Vijay's lyrics.

The organizers of the function had also arranged for a fun contest for all the lovers who were around on Valentine's Day. The couples were asked to write their names on a chit of paper for a lucky draw, the winners of which would get a free Sarvam audio CD. All went well until the draw of lots. When the winning names were finally announced, most of the couples chose not to come on stage to receive their prizes. Might be due to the media and shutterbugs present to cover the event which could probably expose their affairs. Finally, only two couples came on stage to receive their prizes. Looks like at least a section of the audience got a feel of the problems of a celebrity's life, constantly being surrounded by cameras.
